Cusco: Day 1

From Lima we flew to Cusco!  Peruvian airports are a breeze to get through when you're flying domestic and people aren't yelling at you for doing your papers wrong....

So after we took this picture a man came up to us and in his British accent asked us in some cute British way what part of Britan we were from (since we were taking a picture in front of the "Britt Shop".  When we told him we were American and her name was Brittany he seemed offended and walked away.

Attention American Airlines.  LAN served us whole grain crackers, a brownie, a chocolate AND a beverage for free on our one hour flight.  It was slightly amazing.

We arrived in Cusco and were greeted by our driver for the trip, Diego.  We're not exactly sure of his age but from things he said we place him around 27 or 28.  Diego used to be a racecar driver and it definitely showed!  We zipped all around that city haha  It was good for the long rides because they weren't quite as long and we got to spend more time at the sights too.
Our driver and wheels for the week.  That's right, we had our own driver...that'll never happen again in my life.
Some of the sights in and around the city....

How the Incans managed to carve stones so perfectly, I'll never understand

A big rock slide...don't worry, we totally acted our age.

So the rocks look super fake from far away and they even look fake close up...but they are in fact, real.  Real rocks that are real old carved and built by real Incans...really!

Next we headed to an overlook of Cusco and it was beautiful!  I think my favorite sights in all of Peru were the sights of the cities from the surrounding mountains.  It's awesome to be able to see an entire city below you and then take in the beauty of the mountains as well.

That night we decided to indulge in some Pizza.  I was pretty Peruvian-fooded out and was ready for American food.  Cusco is a tourist town so I wasn't too worried about having pizza that tasted like our first Peruvian pizza.  This stuff turned out to be mouthwateringly spectacular.  And the four of us finished that gigantic pizza in no time.  I think our waiter was impressed.
